OHS Boys Tennis Season
- If you are looking to watch the Owatonna Boys tennis team in action this year, here is the schedule:

Free Adult Tennis Lessons
The Owatonna Tennis Association, through the generous $500 grant from USTA Northern (http://www.northern.usta.com/leagues/) and the facility use by Owatonna Park & Rec (http://ci.owatonna.mn.us/parksrecreation), hosted 5 FREE adult group lesson nights in January & February. Twenty four slots were available and all twenty four were filled to include a waiting list. Individuals participating included brand new players, recreational players and some that have played for years but were looking for some fine tuning. The OTA may pursue other grants to provide similar activities in the future.
Manthey Tennis Courts Finished
- 11/3/2015 – The Manthey Tennis court overlay is complete and the courts are ready for use.
- Manthey Courts saw a lot of use this summer after the completion of the renovation.
- If you didn’t get a chance to check them out make sure to keep these courts in mind when 2016 outdoor play begins.
Faribault’s Darren Iverson Set World Record!
Faribault (Minn.) girls tennis coach Darren Iverson braved the rain and cold in setting a Guinness World Record for most consecutive tennis matches played at 35 on May 29-30, 2015, at the Faribault High School Tennis Courts. Iverson broke the existing record of 33 set by Jerome Lacorte in Hong Kong in November of 2014 according toGuinness World Records.
Manthey Tennis Courts
- 7/13/2015 – The Manthey Tennis court overlay is complete and the courts are ready for use.
- 6/21/2015 – Reconstruction of the Manthey tennis and basketball courts has been underway since early June. As you may recall, Owatonna Parks and Recreation was able to secure about $ 52,000 in the 2015 budget to this project. OTA Board member, Jerry Hartmann, talked with the Tennis West contractor (Mark) as he was out there. Mark showed Jerry how the Armor Crack Repair System works. The finish colors will be a blue court with green on the outside. The basketball court is much worse off and there is a lot more to do there.Oh, one other thing. The contractor said he and Corky had talked about the Darts Park tennis courts and may be doing a power wash to clean off the dirt, which will help make these courts better to play on.
